About Playa del Carmen & the Riviera Maya
Playa del Carmen is just one hour south of Cancun. Blessed with beautiful white sand beaches and the crystal clear Carribean blue waters, activities abound. In addition, the town has great nightlife along Quinta Avenida, where you can browse in hundreds of great shops, eat in fine restaurants or just people-watch as the world goes by.
Located on the Yucatan peninsula, Playa del Carmen is a good jumping off point for visits to Mayan ruins such as Chitzen Itza, Coba and Tulum (only 30 minutes away).
